03.03.16 ~ MARNE FECHNER: A to Z tales from the Netball World Cup
Now that the dust has settled on Netball World Cup Sydney 2015, Organising Committee Chief Executive Marne Fechner, reflects on her four year involvement.
The bid, the dreaming, the lead up and the delivery – what has the event enabled for the sport globally?
A key member of the successful NWC2015 bid team, Marne was appointed Chief Executive of Netball World Cup 2015 in February 2013 and led a dynamic team to deliver the most successful World Cup in history. Marne is a graduate of Deakin University – Graduate Diploma in Sport Management, RMIT – Masters in Marketing and is completing a Masters in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. Marne is also an independent Board member of the Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA).
Now Deputy CEO of Netball Australia, Marne has been instrumental in securing new corporate partners for netball, including the likes of Telstra, Honda, Coles, Australia Post, ANZ and San Remo and led the implementation of a national commercial framework which resulted in Netball Australia and the eight Member Organisations working collectively on sponsorship and commercial opportunities for the first time in the sport’s history.
Although Marne is a former Australian netballer and AIS Scholarship holder, she believes her greatest achievement is successfully juggling a young active family and career in sport.
Join us at this special keynote event to hear from Marne, network with other WOMANZ members and guests, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
